Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi Crafty Friends! You should have arrived here from Terri Koszler page. What an inspiration-packed blog hop that Altenew is spearheading and for such a wonderful cause. Our goal is to send cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. Please check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and join this great cause by sending in your own card creations.
Here are mine:
Card 1
For my first card I paired Baroque Motifs with Simple Beauty. I first layed out the bottom flourish on my panel, it looked like it was made to hold a pretty floral bloom :). After I stamped and die cut the main flower from the Simple Beauty set I used it to figure out my placement for the smaller flowers; stamped those and filled in parts of the small flowers with my Buttercream Artist Marker. I then added the smaller flourish to the top and finally popped up the largest flower on foam tape. I then added the MOM” using the Fine Alphabet Dies on glitter cardstocks. As a final touch I added iridescent jewels for the flower centers. Finished card size is 5x7 inches. Inks used: (Summer AfternoonPocketful of Sunshine, Lapis Lazuli, Rock Collection)
Card 2
For this card I again used Simple Beauty stamp/die set along with the Versatile Vases stamp set. To start I stamped and die cut the beautiful layered floral image from Simple Beauty, the layers in this set are very easy to align. I then stamped the vase and added the design using the flourish stamp in the Simple Beauty set, I fussy cut this image out. Once I figured out my placement I added more blooms to the background and left them uncolored. I adhered the vase flat to the card base, while the flower was popped up on foam tape. The sentiment comes from the vases stamp set. As a final touch I added small yellow gems to the flower centers. Finished card size is 5x7 inches. Inks used: Summer Afternoon, Enchanted Garden, Green Fields)

Now on to some cards.
Card 1.  For this project I chose one of my most loved Altenew floral stamp/die bundle, Beautiful Day. I was inspired by an invitation I recently created and thought I could carry it over to a lovely tri-fold card, what do you think?

I started by taking two 5x7 white cardstock panels and drawing a semi-circle on one side of each (I used my tape roll as a guide).
I did the following steps for both panels:
  • I arranged my stamps along the penciled line.
  • I then scored each panel about a half inch from the non-stamped side and secured with double sided tape to a third blank 5x7 panel to give me the tri-fold.
  • I stamped a sentiment inside the card using the Beautiful Inside set.
  • For my vellum band I heat embossed a sentiment from Forever and Always.
Here is another version of the card (standard fold card):

Card 2. This card was inspired by a journal I recently purchased, I think the flowers pop off of the black background. This card showcases a newer stamp/die bundle set, Simple Beauty.
  • I stamped the main image of this set several times and again pulled out my mini cube sets including: Summer Afternoon, Sea Shore, Warm & Cozy, Red Cosmos. I used the matching Altenew Artist Markers to color the small blooms.
  • The sentiment comes from the Mega Greetings 4 set.
  • After I adhered the flowers with foam tape to my black panel I then cut off any excess hanging over the sides.
  • Adhere the black panel to a 5x7 card base.
  • Because it was an afterthought, I added faux splatter with my white gel pen.
I hope I have left you with some inspiration and here is something else for you from our friends at Altenew:
